As Men, How Can We Help Put an End to Domestic Violence?

  1. First off, it is important to note that domestic violence is an issue that effects us all, men and women, gay and straight alike and all reports should be taken seriously.

  2. Get educated! Domestic violence is more than just physical. It can include emotional and mental abuse.

  3. Sexual assault prevention programs for men in college and high school can be effective in improving attitudes that may put men at-risk for committing violence against women.

  4. "Bystander" prevention programs are used build skills to recognize potential domestic violence, how to respond to it, and how to potentially disrupt that behavior.  

  5. It is critical not to put anyone down for coming to you and telling you, be compassionate!

  6. If you or a loved one are suffering from domestic violence reach out there is always help!

  7. It is important to keep a healthy mindset through your tough times try and focus on things that make you happy instead of falling onto more negative habits like binge drinking and drug use.

  8. Find things you love to do such as working out, playing video games, or talking with friends and family, you are never alone.

  9. Address those who joke about domestic violence and tell them to stop!

  10. Donate to local organizations or shelters near you!

  11. Teach your children to have respect for their mothers and their relationships
